WinMapper: Put your keyboard to work!
WinMapper is our RSI-, game- and office-friendly software utility that allow you to program your mouse and keyboard.
Use WinMapper to control the default Windows Key and Mouse Keys behaviour, create aliases, create keyboard shortcuts
to one of the many functions, or use the built-in Bookmarks feature instead of ALT+TAB.
WinMapper runs in the system tray, and can be configured to start automatically.
WinMapper is distributed as shareware, and you can download a free 30-day trial version from our website.
When the initial 30-day trial period has expired, you must purchase a license to continue using WinMapper.
WinMapper Features
WinMapper enables you to create keyboard shortcuts to a wide variety of functions, while
providing enhanced control of windows, MouseKeys, Windows Key hotkeys, and Aliases.
WinMapper is the only software to allow this much control over your keyboard and the
use of Microsoft Windows, and has several unique features built-in.
For office users, we have implemented a range of features to ease the tasks that
are often repeated. This includes the insertion of signatures or predefined text
, the recording and repetition of keystrokes, repeated repetitions,
automatic numbering, quick access to the most recently used document or application,
shortcuts for creating a new emails, bookmarking and switching between open documents, and more.
As these features are used with WinMapper hotkeys, they are accessible in all applications.
For game players, we have implemented functions that allow precise programming of the keyboard
and mouse responses, with programmable delays and support for a timed loop that can be stopped
by repeating the hotkey or pressing ESCAPE. Note that even though two different implementations of both
the Antz and SendKeys functions are available (Playback or Simulation types), some games and/or
applications may not support this, or may discourage or disallow the use of such features.
For music, image, and internet browsing, the DirPlay category provides access to functions that will run
any type of file in a specified folder, in the specified order. This, essentially, is a CD
player for folders, and works on all file types supported by your Windows system.
The main features of WinMapper are listed here:
Define keyboard shortcuts (hotkeys)

Define keyboard shortcuts (hotkeys) with virtually any key combination, including the
Microsoft Windows Key and MultiMedia keys. Each key-combination can be assigned to execute one of the
100 functions.

Edit Hotkey window.
Multiple keyboard profiles
Profiles
Create multiple profiles, each containing WinMapper settings and hotkeys. Profiles can
be loaded using a hotkey (and the Load Profile function), or accessed from the WinMapper menu.
This enables you to create individual keyboard profiles for use in special programs or scenarios.
Create Email, Internet and file shortcuts
Internet category
WinMapper can be used to create keyboard shortcuts for creating new emails, optionally with a specific
recipient and/or subject. Internet Favorites, shortcuts, documents, files, folders, applications,
and control panel extensions can be launched directly from a hotkey. Hotkeys can also be used to
open the most Recently Used Document, or to repeat the last Run command.
Use Bookmarks
Enable Bookmarks setting
Bookmark applications for easy navigation between the most commonly used windows. Set one of the
standard 0-9 bookmarks by pressing Shift, the Windows Key and a number between 0 and 9 -
then jump to a previously set bookmark by pressing the Windows Key and the number (0-9).
MouseKeys Enhancements
Enable MouseKeys setting
WinMapper provides easy access to some Microsoft MouseKeys features, and the optional addition of
using the cursor keys as well as the numeric keypad, keyboard-controlled increments of the mouse movement speed, and more.
Manage your Alias list

Add, Edit or Remove application Aliases. These are nicknames for applications, and are
installed by most Windows applications. You can remove outdated entries, or add your own nicknames
to your favorite applications. When defined, typing the application nickname in the Run menu
starts the application.
Control the Microsoft Windows Key functionality
Screenshot of the Windows Key settings
WinMapper provides the option of disabling the default Microsoft Windows Key functionality
and associated hotkeys. The Start Menu and the Windows D,E,F,M and R hotkeys can be disabled
or overwritten.
Hide the windows
Override menu doubleclicks setting
WinMapper has an optional feature that can change the default behaviour in Microsoft Windows
when you double-click on the title of a window. Most applications default to Maximize/Restore,
or provides no functionality at all. By enabling this WinMapper option, all double-clicks result
in the window being hidden - except the window title bar. The original size is remembered, and the
window is restored to normal when another double-click on the remaining title is made.
WinMapper can remember up to 20 window sizes at one time.
Easy access to WinMapper
WinMapper shortcut setting
WinMapper provides the option of displaying the main WinMapper window when both the left and
the right Windows key is pressed simultaneously. You can also enable or disable your WinMapper
shortcut on the desktop, and the automatic starting of WinMapper. You can also quickly review
both the online and offline help by pressing F1 and flipping the Use Online Help switch.
Macros
Macro functions
Record your keystrokes for later playback (repetition). Once a series of keystrokes are recorded,
you can repeat these by using the Play Macro function to repeat the keystrokes once, or the Repeat
Macro function to repeat the keystrokes a number of times.
Text, Number and Date insertion
Keyboard / text functions
You can use the Send Keys function to insert text strings, including limited formatting,
as if you typed it yourself. This function can also be used to insert an automatic number as part
of the text - the number is determined by the Next Number function. There is also a specific function
for inserting the current date in a desired format.
Programmable mouse and keyboard
Antz function
Use the Antz function to program your mouse responses in advance, including timed
delays between mouse actions and/or repetitions (Antz Loop).
In addition to normal text, the SendKeys and SendKeys Loop functions supports timed delays, key names,
and both types of keyboard programming (Playback/Simulation).
DirPlay
DirPlay functions
The one and only CD Player for directories. You can use the DirPlay functions to Start, Stop, Pause,
Resume, Play, and navigate around files in the specified directory, in a specified or random order.
This works on all files supported by your Windows, including documents, applications, images,
sound files, Internet Favorites, Shortcuts, movies, Email shortcuts, etc.
Timers
Timer functions
WinMapper also provides easy access to a simple Timer. By using Start, Stop, Pause, Resume, and
Clear to control when and how the time is recorded, you can view the time spent by selecting
the Timer Status menu or function.
Run menu
Run menu (GotoFolder function)
The GotoFolder function allows you to run (or open) an application, folder, document,
shortcut, Internet Favorite, URL, or any other supported file. In addition to history
and auto-completion, it also provides access to the Select window, a user-friendly
categorized listing of local files.
WinMapper v2.0 is scheduled to enhance this function with support for function names and
inverted verbs.
