Who am I ?

My name is Nicolai Kjaer, and I'm a developer with years of experience in software research and development. I develop and sell software products, or work as an external consultant/contractor. I'm good at prototyping, proof of concepts, tooling and automation.

For the last 15+ years I've been focusing on packaging/scripting and virtualization of software, and regularly do contracting for Dutch customers. I also write tools, guides and helpful scripts - you can find more in the Kb.

I also do contracting on Azure DevOps projects, building and deploying CI/CD YAML pipelines using Bicep templates. Monitoring and fixing compliance issues, maintaining and upgrading Azure resources and the environment.

I work with installation and virtualization technologies for large scale software deployments and OS migrations. Software is either virtualized (AppV, MSIX), or packaged (Windows Installer Packages/Transforms/AppDeployToolkit), and finally deployed to the end users. The PCs are typically managed via GPOs, Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft App-V, RES, and/or Intune.

I'm currently working via ->Dignitas.

Packaging services:

I create customized Windows Installer packages (or transforms) according to specifications/guidelines. Common changes include:

• Conform to a company-wide package standard
• Installation package with specific features and options
• Disabling updates
• Adding files or registry keys to a package
• Deployment files (RES Building Blocks / SMS files)
• Patches and updates
• Documentation

I can also assist as an external consultant on problematic packages, or with troubleshooting.
